Isolation, loneliness and frustration: a virus taking over all of our lives. At a time when the Covid-19 pandemic forces everyone to adapt to a new way of living, eleven middle-class people have to cope with their own personal struggles and worries. A mother who has left her family, a therapist who stands on the edge of ruin, a son who wants to comfort his suffering mother, a daughter who reconnects with her parents. Orca paints a picture of a world where everybody learns to cope differently with the lack of human interaction. In this socially distancing drama, director Josephine Bornebusch reflects a collective loneliness through phenomenal acting performances by a star-studded Swedish cast, which includes Bornebusch herself. It was no surprise that the film received five Guldbagge nominations, Sweden's national film awards.
