This blood-curdling psychological drama is the last work of director Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson, who died suddenly before the release of Wolka. Ásgeirsson became known for films such as Thicker Than Water, Undercurrent and the animated film Ploey. His latest film Wolka proves one last time that the Icelandic director is able to hold the viewer from beginning to end. The story is about Polish woman Anna, who after spending fifteen years in prison for the murder of her partner, is finally released on parole. Now she has only one goal: to find a woman named Dorota. She travels from Warsaw to Iceland, and during her journey she must once again break the law. A nerve-racking cat-and-mouse game ensues as Anna must sacrifice everything to achieve her goal.
