The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic (1h 22min.)

Love isn't always easy, but sometimes it's harder than it should be. This Audience Award-winner of the renowned Venice Film Festival is an atypical action thriller about Jaakko, a blind man with MS. He loves Sirpa, even though they have never met, they talk every day over the phone. When Sirpa is struck by shocking news, Jaakko is sure: he must visit her. Tightened to his wheelchair, he just needs to rely on the help of five strangers in five places: from home to taxi, from taxi to station, from station to train, from train to taxi and finally from taxi to… her. What can go wrong? Jaakko is played superbly by Petri Poikolainen, who has MS himself and is an old friend of director Teemu Nikki. Nikki’s films are definitely different every time, but familiar to our festival: his well-received film Euthanizer was screened at our festival in 2018 and another film of his is screened at this year’s festival: Nimby.
